Sadie - big jump here foryou. Depending on how you get files in to you, and what kind of quality is expected, I would get someone to assist you to get your presses to print like your proofs. If you can get your proofs to like like your press prints, then you can do a lot of testing of files to see what they look like, without finding out while on press. - Read More..

If you are asking about Fuji LH-PJ, I THINK they are. The Creo trendsetter Spectrum has a different head I think, than a regular quantum?? NOT SURE. I do know that it's compatible to a Creo trendsetter Quantum w/40 watt head, that's what I have here as a backup device. I ran only on that Trendsetter till about January when my Fuji javelin 8600s was installed. Yeah... never take enough time to properly investigate a problem: blame the operators !! You're probably talking to the wrong guys there. I tested both Fuji and Kodak photopolymer plates, everything was fine, quality is v good, but I never relied on their customer support w.r.t. plate processing/quality issues, I always seeked advice from the equipment manufacturer service guys. - Read More..

Hi JP, I don't use Zend since I just tweak and modify existing php/mySQL scripts and don't do much authoring at all. But I do have a local server on my OS X G5 minitower setup that I use to test and configure things with. For that I hd tried MAMP but it has no cgi-bin support and I cannot test and use all my perl scripting on it. Although most of my stuff is php mySQL I do still have a few odds and ends that are done in perl and there's no equivalent php solution out there for them. Mac, The workflow I've described earlier is good enough for us, with distributed tasks: a PC and a Mac as frontend preparation/checking/editing, a G5 running the imposition server, another Mac with Harlequin, then the CTP and the proofing RIP, respectively. If I am to upgrade this workflow to accomodate more pages per day, I would start looking into automation. Having said that, I remember a good friend of mine from another print shop uses two harlequins (on two PCs) and some automation tools from polkadots, you might want to take a look at their website.
