If you want to have a CTP process house i.e make plates for other printers then you have no option than to go the thermal way. Please find out the manufacturer / agent who gives you the best service in your area and buy from them. I sell Kodak and in my opinion the present software and hardware configuration from Kodak is a winner. I agree, but, after carrying out all other cleaning regimes that you mention, this is all I am left with as a 'possible' cause. The Fuji and Raptor engineer pointed the water pressure out, and I can only go along with the solution until it proves itself 'to be/or not to be' (LOL) the cause. -The prewash brush shows no build up -Constant Dev changes during a 12 hour period show no contaminate -Spray bars have been checked (pinholes cleared - but they were not clogged) -Banding across plates in the past was due to brush pressure (fixed) The valve/filter checks you mentioned were carried out but the Raptor/Fuji ... - Read More..

For this task we use an Acrobat Pro plugin: "Quite a Box of Tricks", from Quite Software. http://www.quite.com/box/ It's very good at RGB to CMYK. Almost an on-the-fly process. Uses, I believe, the sRGB space as the conversion point, though I'm no expert on this. With virtually all the RGBs we get, it does a perfectly adequate job, and well. Plus it's not very expensive; certainly compared to other more fully featured PDF editors. It does a few other things as well, like shrinking PDFs for emailing/proofing. If a printer - lets define him here as a press owner that can take a 1 bit file and somehow image it onto some plate - well, if that printer asks for 'someone" to send then 1 bit tiffs (pre screened or not) - this is a perfectly reliable thing ! Some printers don't even appear in the Chooser anymore because of no AppleTalk support and you can't configure them using the old method. Many printers with AppleTalk support will have it turned off. The only printers that just "SHOW UP" in the chooser as ready are AppleTalk printers, most decent printers DO have AppleTalk support, Thank God. To connect to a printer over TCP/IP and create a desktop printer you need the Desktop Printer Utility.
