i'm not sure how joe qualifies the fuji as the "best" plate (thats a sweeping statement mate) - but i would recommend you look into azura from agfa before you make any decisions whatsoever. it is a chemistry free (yeah just another buzz/spin word) plate - very good indeed. as for the front ends - well there's many - rampage, trueflow, all the scope stuff, xitron stuff, evo - which i kinda like but havent used - there's loads. budget will be a major factor - suppliers will allow you to spend any amounts you want! its down to setting a criteria - room or norm workflow, proofing, archiving, upgrade path, suppor... - Read More..

hello and welcome well it might not be a cs issue - is your rip up to date and ps level 3? you might want to make sure the rip is capable of dealing with tranparency stuff - just to rule it out. well transparency and rips is a major thing these days - postscript, as we all know, cannot understand/interpret it, so flattens/rasterizes into non - live files - which is a pita. anyhoo - take a look in the effects pallette (window>effects) and if there's anything with an "fx" next to it give it a double click and it should bring up the appropriate fx/effect dialogue box for that effect (if that makes sense) ... - Read More..

Sure, There are several alternatives and all are FREE. A much better idea than paying like $400 for FlightCheck, software that will not be regularly updated. FlightCheck has run at a fraction of the speed it did in OS 9. Every update has been slower than the applications it checks. What all the services you run on the server if you dont mind me asking? If you're just using AFP and Windows SMB and nothing else... I am like you on waiting. But then again I am stillt trying to talk to my workplace into getting os x server just so we don't have to use the same username and password. It would also help me direct my boss off in areas where I don't feel her comfortable being in. Hello Leif, It has been a long time since I heard from you. The 1/8" bleed is a fixed and hard coded parameter and would require a custom version rewrite to do it. The robot settings are all dialed into industry standards. So, I would recommend just to run this job out manually to accomodate this odd job. If this will be a regualr and recurring job, it may justify cost of doing a custom robot for you. It's not real expensive, a few hundred bucks. Hi All, I have been battling an Indesign CS3 file, that has drop shadows. the artwork is an all Magenta background, with artwork that is transparency % to the magenta, with a drop shadow. Here's where I start going crazy, I have tried Ripping EPS and PDF and tiffs. What happens the RIPPED file creates drop shadow with a weird glowing halo around it.
