It is an A1 (927 mm x 635 mm) system, so it means it can handle A1 plates and smaller, which is good

Hi, we have been using the Esko DPX 420 model of platemaker for around 7 years. We now have 3 of these machines in the shop. We use them on 5 Heidelburg Quickmasters, a GTO, and a Lithrone 420 Komori. We run very good process color as well as tight register spot color work. We also bounce between metal (some old work not yet scanned and converted to digital) and the polyester without a problem. You will need to use a glycerine based fountain solution and we find an acrylic ink works best. Don't be scared of poly, just know you need to commit to the process and be firm in your commitment... - Read More..

Hey everyone! Just joined the forum today, and couldn't find an introduction thread, so I might as well start here. My first design app was Quark 4 in college, and I've been using it on a daily basis ever since. I'm now using Q7 (on a XP machine both at home and at work), love it, and can get everything done with it in a hurry. I really do need to sit down and learn InDesign, but it's just a matter of finding time to do so. thank you both for your very valuable input. I'm looking into xitron now. As far as plates go I like the idea of a process less plate as long as there are no problems on press. Before CTP we used only Fuji and they ran great. LT2's haven't been as reliable but I think that was more getting use to doing things different. We had to take much better care of the processor. I've seen it happen if the illustrator file has crops (Edit > Crop Area > Make). If you release them, it should fix it. You could also try checking the "Show Import Options" when placing something in InDesign... I think "Media" includes all the bleeds and stuff... but I could be wrong. Hope that helps - Read More..

I've been dealing with this myself, and have submitted it to Adobe for a (hopeful) bug fix. It's the Intel Mac chip. If you print from any Mac with CS2, it works fine. If you print from CS3 a non-Intel Mac, it prints fine. But print from CS3 on an Intel Mac, and it's a problem. Hopefully, your shop has a few older machines that you can use to print only a few pages when you have corrections. Best of luck. Anyone have or know of a good script or application that can copy OS 9 Finder comments to the IPTC (XMP) metadata fields for graphics (tiff, eps, jpg) and PDF files? We use Xinet Fullpress/WebNative and it was setup a long time ago by Mac OS 9 users and instead of properly adding metadata to the IPTC fields on the graphics, they put it in the OS 9 Finder comments field. I frequently get finder crashes while attempting to copy InDesign (.indd) files to our Origin server running KA/Share (Fullpress 15 w/AFP3) as well as SMB/CIFs NAS servers (sometimes). As a matter of fact the only place I can copy these files is locally. It is exclusively InDesign CS files and it happens about one out of every 20 attempts so it is not every time. If it were any other file format I would chalk it up to bad networking. I can only assume a conflict with Adobe encoded data that my system is not capable of reading.
