I'm guessing by B2 you're talking about 19.7" % 27.8" (500mm % 707mm). As has been pointed out, making plates for customers you'll need more 'n one size. Most web presses, for instance, can hande most plates as far as solutions, ink and stuff... but size does matter. As long as the plates are equal or smaller 'n the blankets it's ok. You'll have to know what the requirements of your customer's printer are before you produce any plates for them! Here at the Athens Banner-Herald we've become very fond of our Creo (oops Kodak) "Trendsetters" 'cause we "burn" a large quantity of plates and they've proved practically... - Read More..

Is this happening with only one specific dont, or does it happen with numerous ones? I haveseen where with a postscript font, the screen font is fine, but the printer font is corupt. Try a different font and see ifthe same thing happens, or see if you have the same font. and change it over to that new one. - Read More..

Ain't none but I know what you feel. I had a similar problem years ago when we were still migrating from 9 to X. I did think (then) that MacOsX was slow and buggy. Then I discovered that quite a number of type 1 fonts I was using were silently corrupt. Hello Mike, We had to move forward from our Brisque 5 workflow last year. We tested most of the RIPs out there through some very difficult test files and criteria. We went with the Esko-Graphics SCOPE because it was the best trapper and most capable and powerful system tested. We are extremely happy with Esko-Graphics SCOPE. I must say that as a long time Creo customer (acquired not earned) by Kodak, that their terrible handling of our business left a mark. Kodak has been experiencing some "issues" with the Thermal Gold plates recently. If you have noticed that the boxes that the plates come in now have a White colored label on them instead of the usual Gold colored label. Kodak says that this has nothing to do with the plates and is a cost cutting measure, but, since this change happened, there have been MANY plate problems around the country. You should check out the PlateScope by Techkon. It's a German company, but available in the USA. It's MUCH faster than Xrite, and more accurate than icPlate or ccDot. There is NO extensive calibration required, it's a simple white spot built onto the charging cradle. It also has features to export pictures of the image to whatever you want, and the Pro model lets you calibrate your CTP curves. It can also read color, although it took some experimentation to figure out how to "read" it.
